July 8th talk with Pipi Piazzolla, July 12th Zotto and Guspero's show and from July 13th to 16th the festival kicks off with night milongas in front of the Cathedral and orchestras spread throughout the city

This morning, in the beautiful setting of the Trabucco of Trani, Daniel “Pipi” Piazzolla , grandson of the legendary Astor Piazzolla, inaugurated the tenth edition of the Trani tango festival, which from this year becomes International Trani Tango , organized by the Asd InMovimento of Claudia Vernice and Giuseppe Ragno, with the support of the Municipality of Trani, the Puglia Region and the European Union.

“PIAZZOLLA STATEMENT” this is how the Argentine artist, who arrived in Puglia thanks to the Radici Project, promoted by Enit Argentina and Pugliapromozione , greeted his family's hometown. Piazzolla will be the protagonist of a talk scheduled for Saturday 8 July , at 8 pm , in the municipal villa of Trani . It will be an opportunity to talk about his grandfather Astor, one of the greatest musical exponents in the world. Astor Piazzolla was born 102 years ago in Mar della Plata and has Apulian origins, precisely from Trani, the city from which his grandfather Pantaleone left for Argentina in search of work. Astor then grew up in New York, where the fusion of musical and cultural influences created a unique and never-before-heard sound, which consecrated Piazzolla's style, giving life to a new genre.

The International Trani Tango this year is among the major events recognized by the Puglia Region , supported by Pugliapromozione , represented by Alessandra Boccuzzi , Educational Office of the Pugliapromozione Regional Tourism Agency, who states: “Roots tourism, which allows us to rediscover the beauty of the places of origin of millions of Italians around the world, represents for Puglia an identity bond of which we are culturally very proud”. Boccuzzi adds: “Tango, and the Piazzolla family, are symbolically identified with the history of many other Puglia families, with their descendants with whom we are dialoguing through a special call for proposals. For the first time, a descendant of the famous Astor Piazzolla, who the entire world identifies with Argentine tango, is coming to Trani. The artist Daniel “Pipi” Piazzolla with his musical talent will help tell the story of Puglia to the world. In the meantime, we continue to work also in view of 2024, which will be the Year of Italian Roots. We thank ENIT for its commitment in this direction because tourism in the mother country is an opportunity, both for those who have left and for those who have remained here: to reconnect family ties, habits, traditions”.

The event is co-financed by the European Union, Puglia Region and Pugliapromozione. PO Puglia FESR FSE 2014-2020 Axis VI Action 6.8.
